Country Needs People

Country Needs People campaigns for Indigenous land and sea management, catalysing government support for programs that protect biodiversity and culture.

More than 180 million hectares of Australia is held in Indigenous ownership and many of these landscapes are especially rich in natural values and cultural heritage. But the need for active management of environmental threats across this vast area is urgent and extensive.

CNP’s unique model harnesses traditional knowledge, connection to Country and access to modern scientific conservation methods, delivering outcomes for biodiversity and Indigenous people.

Their advocacy with state, territory and federal governments has a strong track record of achieving funding for Indigenous Rangers and Indigenous Protected Area programs. This results in jobs where they are needed most, on traditional lands and in remote locations.

They work in partnership and support a national network of Traditional Owner led grassroots land and sea management groups.
