Environment Victoria

Founded in 1969, Environment Victoria is an independent charity running people-powered campaigns to protect and restore Victoria’s climate and environment.

Global heating has become a central focus of our work recognising that it threatens all the gains we have made over that time.

Burning coal is the single biggest source of greenhouse gases. Victoria’s coal-burning power stations are responsible for around 40% of the state’s C02 emissions. In this critical decade for climate action, where every tonne of CO2 matters, we are working relentlessly to phase out all coal generators by 2030, replace them with clean energy, and support the Latrobe Valley community through this transition.

The PMF Foundation is generously supporting Environment Victoria’s work with the Latrobe Valley community. This involves supporting local leaders and groups like Communities Leading Change to have conversations about the transition, create a shared vision for the future beyond coal, and demand a leading role in the transition planning process.
